Automatic Barriers

Automatic Barrier Systems & Traffic Barriers

The use of automatic barriers to control access to sites has now become an integral part of many companies site access policies.  Whether it is to restrict entry to authorised permit holders only, or to control the flow of traffic around a site, automatic barriers are found in increasing numbers throughout the country.

What was once the domain of a  security guard and a clip-board, GaneTime’s automatic barrier system integration, now means that security can concentrate on their role in the knowledge that the GaneTime system will only let in the people who are permitted.  Using either barcode or proximity card technology, traffic barriers can be controlled for entry or exit to and from busy sites.

Security staff can monitor who is going in or out of the site using the GaneTime software, and also have manual override buttons installed to permit extraordinary access to visitors, or delivery drivers if site safety and security protocols permits such access.

Automatic barriers for fully permit controlled sites also allow unmanned 24 hour security, whereas in the past expensive 24 hour manned operations might have been necessary.

Full remote control for raising barriers through the GaneTime system can even permit security to enable site entry from a central security station connected to the site entrance by cctv and intercom.

As with all GaneTime controlled readers, turnstile and traffic barrier systems, integration will fire panels, and other digital input alarm systems, mean that in the event of an emergency traffic barriers can be raised automatically to ease emergency evacuation procedures.

Safety induction loops for vehicles are used to bring down barriers.  For uncontrolled exit to site, induction loops can also be used to permit automatic exit from sites without the need for a reader, whilst entry is controlled by reader only.  GaneTime’s fully integrated access control system can be configured to cater for all types of access and exit policies.

Multiple readers, for both cars and higher cabin vehicles with either left or right hand drive options can be catered for within the same system, with multiple height readers all being linked to the same barrier control using GaneTime’s access control units.

Linking to our digital outputs, barriers can also be configured to stay open, for example during office hours, and then close and require card access, out of office hours or at weekends to maintain site security when the building or site is perhaps considered less secure.
